The marriage which 'lasted' for 13 years is blessed with a 12-year-old daughter. Arinze told Justice Sybil Nwaka that the marriage had broken down irreparably and irreconcilably, after the couple had stayed apart for 11 years, since 29 May, 1998.

Foluke Daramola has in the last couple of years suffered bad press due to crisis rocking her marriage. Many people had in fact associated the crisis with her non-appearance in movies for over a year.

"I Don't Consider My Being Short A Disadvantage" Actress Grace Amah

tar actress, Grace Amah, his getting married. And this is very soon. The petite bundle of talent disclosed this much in a recent chat with us in Owerri, Imo State. She would later lecture us on her idea of marriage, why some are crashing on a daily basis and how she intends to keep hers.

Can you still remember your first day on stage?

My first movie was Chain, directed by Lancelot Imasuen. That was in 1999.

Who were you looking up to when you started your acting career?

Liz Benson

Today, you may have changed your perception?

No, I haven’t. It’s just that I can add some other names to it: Joke Silva, Richard Mofe Damijo and Stella Damascus.

Maybe you have an advice for the up and coming ones in Nollywood?

They should be focused and follow their dreams. They should pursue their goal and be dedicated to their job. Above all, let desperation not overtake their reasoning.

Can you remember the most outrageous thing you have done on and off stage?

I can’t think of any.

You are not getting any younger, any plans to get married?

Yes, I will get married soon.

So, you can now unveil your man?

Don’t worry. You will get to know about him when the time comes.

How would you describe him?

He is a lovely and caring guy.

Is he your dream man?

Although I have problem with phrase, dream, I think he is.

Why are you even venturing into marriage at a time it is crashing rapidly?

It is not all marriages that are crashing. It depends on the individual. Like they always say, it takes a woman to keep her home. Any Actress who loves her home and want to keep it can do it. Once you love your home, you will definitely do everything to keep it. You have to do everything to make your marriage work. But at the same time, it is not a do or die affair. Sometimes, some marriages may be detrimental to your life. What do you do? You have to walk away or endure the stress. That’s life. For me, I wouldn’t say the person should walk away, but we all aspire to be happy in our relationships and marriages. But life is important too, because if any of the couple dies, the other partner goes ahead in life.

Away from marriage, did you ever have early fantasies about life?

I had always dreamt to be a famous person or someone who would impact positive things into people’s lives.

Would you say you are living your dream?

Yes, I am, by God’s grace.

Do you have any phobia?

My phobia is water.

You are petite, but you carry yourself in a way many admire. How do you do it?

How do I do it? Nothing so special. I don’t see any difference in my size. I see myself as any other tall person. Because in life, what a tall person can do, I may not be able to do. And what I can do, the tall guy might not be able to do. I believe there is a reason for God creating me the way I am. So, I carry myself so high for people to appreciate me.

So, you don’t want to get taller?

I love the way I am.

Other than acting, what else do you do?

I am in school. I am in my final year in the University of Lagos. A Creative Arts student, I’m also a member of Junior Chamber International ( JCI). It is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs. I’m the director, Membership Growth and Development for 2008.

If you were not an actress, what would you have loved to be?

I would have been a lawyer.

Dan Foster In Deportation Saga

Gist has it that popular Radio presenter and one of the top guys behind Inspiration FM, Dan Foster, has been deported from Nigeria. The news broke out over the weekend and was confirmed in some magazine earlier in the week.
The American who was recruited from the United States of America by the management of Cool FM got more than he bargained for in the hands of the men of the immigration who refused all to allow him stay a day further in Nigeria last Friday.

Dan Foster deportation was allegedly facilitated by his former employer at Cool FM, Mr. Amir Mousali as the Amir did not find the way Dan left the company to join Inspiration Fm owned by Erastus Akingbola the Vice Chairman of Intercontinental Bank Plc.
The company vowed that they would have him deported from Nigeria because in the first place he got his work permit through them and his stay permit has expired.

We gathered that Dan's excuse of having a Nigerian as a wife who has a baby for him did not hold water as the Nigerian Immigration officials insisted he goes back to America and re-apply to come back to Nigeria properly.

The gist took a different turn when the General Manager of Inspiration FM, Wale Ewedemi, said that Dan was not deported; he travelled.
Wale said it had always been Dan Foster's desire to go home since he has been away for five years. Wale also said Dan was gone to regularise some of his papers but will be back in a week.

JUSTICE Deborah Oluwayemi of a Lagos High Court, on Thursday, granted bail to top actress and former beauty queen, Ibinabo Fiberesima.

The court had on Monday, remanded Fiberesima at the Kirikiri Medium Prison, Lagos, pending its ruling on her bail application.

An Igbosere Magistrate’s Court had in 2007 sentenced the actress to seven years imprisonment with an option of N100,000 fine for manslaughter, following her reckless and dangerous driving that led to the death of Dr Giwa Suraj.

Dissatisfied with the judgment, the Lagos State Government filed an appeal at the Lagos High Court while the court had on February 20, 2009 sentenced the actress to five years imprisonment.

Lead lawyer to the convict, Mr. Fred Agbaje had led Mr. Abiodun Onidare and five other lawyers to argue Fiberesima’s bail application.

Agbaje had argued that his client should be released on bail on medical grounds, pending her appeal.

Lawyer to the Lagos State Government, Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN), however, did not oppose the bail application.

In her ruling, Justice Oluwayemi said, “ Since the convict has appeared in court and the state did not oppose the facts in the averment, my hands are tied and I am bound to admit the facts.

“It is trite that bail is granted in exceptional circumstances, as the purpose of bail is to enable the accused attend trial. I hereby exercise my discretion in the favour of the convict”.

The judge consequently held that bail was granted to the convict in the sum of N1m with two sureties.

She also held that the sureties must be property owners, saying that their Certificates of Occupancy must be deposited with the court registrar.

The court also directed that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax clearance, adding that the convict must deposit her international passport with the court pending the determination of her appeal.

Female Students Disappear From University Of Ibadan

Two student of University of Ibadan, disappeared few weeks after a quarrel ensued between them over the use of a diabolic powder belonging to one of them. Both ladies we gather, who stayed together outside campus were very good friends before their mysterious disappearance.

It was gathered that one of their roommates Yinka, that her friend Adaobi, uses a particular powder laced with juju which she uses to attract here choice of men. What surprise Yinka is that Adaobi who is not from a wealthy home, never complained of lack of money because she has at least 6 boyfriends who lavish her with gifts. In a bid to live up to her friends lifestyle, she dated more than one guy but it always end up bad.

However, Yinka was broke and decided to visit her parent for pocket money, while dressing up to go out she discover that her facial powder is finished so she decided to use that of her roommate, Adaobi, who had already go out for lectures.

On her way home from her parent’s house, she noticed that a lot of wealthy men approached her and even offered to drop her off at school but she denied the offers. On getting back to school she was baffled by the attention she gets from men on that day, and decided to narrate the story to her friend, Adaobi. After telling the story she asked Yinka if she use any of her cosmetics when she was about to go out, Yinka was surprised about the question and said yes.

Judge remands Fiberesima, top actress, in Kirikiri Prison

Top actress and former beauty queen, Ibinabo Fiberesima, finally showed up before Justice Deborah Oluwayemi of a Lagos High Court on Monday.
The development came just as the judge remanded the top actress in Kirikiri Medium Prison, Lagos, amid tears and wailing from her family members and artistes, pending the court ruling on her application for bail.

The court had on February 20, sentenced Fiberesima to five years imprisonment for manslaughter, following her dangerous and reckless driving that led to the death of Dr Giwa Suraj

Fiberesima had appeared in court with a black top and multicoloured skirt with her new baby girl and cried throughout the proceedings.

But the convict later broke down and wept profusely when the court finally ordered that she be kept in Kirikiri prison till Thursday.

Our correspondent also observed that some of the convict‘s relations and well-wishers including actors and actresses, who came to court in solidarity, wept over the development.

A mild drama had ensued when the convict, who appeared in court for the first time since the beginning of the suit filed by the Lagos State Government, was assisted into the witness box by the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Mr.Ejike Asiegbu.

But Justice Oluwayemi stopped Asiegbu from leading the convict to the witness box and directed that Fiberesima should be allowed to walk by herself into the witness box.

Some of the actors and actresses that were present in court included Mr. Keppy Ekpenyong, Miss Grace Amah, Iyen Agbonifo, Fred Amata and many others.

Justice Oluwayemi also directed the Medical Director of Kirikiri Medium Prison to attend to her medical needs and ensure that she was given necessary treatment until the next adjourned date.

A new lawyer, Mr Fred Agbaje, had appeared for the convict while Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN), the Solicitor-General of Lagos State, represented the state government.

But the judge commended Agbaje for his sagacity in ensuring that the convict appeared in court.

Agbaje had while moving his application on motion on notice dated March 19, withdrew the first prayer seeking an order for stay of execution of the judgment of the court delivered on February 20.

He, however, moved the second prayer of the application, which urged the court to admit the convict to bail pending the final determination of Fiberesima appeal against the judgment.

He argued that that the convict had shown special circumstances on why she should be admitted to bail, saying that the convict was suffering from cerebral malaria, frequent black outs and depression.

He submitted that there were no medical facilities to treat such ailments in the prison and urged the court to look into these special circumstances.

Agbaje further submitted that the convict had three children one of whom is one year old while the others are seven years and 11 years old respectively.

He further submitted that the said children were living with the actress, saying that she solely takes care of them as a single mother.

Agbaje further claimed that the children would be gravely affected if their mother was not granted bail as there would be nobody to take care of them.

He urged the court to admit his client on bail pending the appeal.

In the Lagos State’s counter affidavit, Pedro, said the state did not oppose the bail application but on the condition that she would appear in court.

He added that the state would continue to defend judgments of the court and act as prosecutor and not a persecutor.

He submitted that the state was not opposing the application for bail to avoid unnecessary interlocutory appeal and to ensure that the appeal was pursued diligently.

Justice Oluwayemi later adjourned the case till April 2 for ruling.

She said, ”The integrity of the bench must be respected and the rule of law must be obeyed. I commend the sagacity of her new counsel, Fred Agbaje for upholding the integrity of the court”.
